چکیده
Purpose: The present study aimed to identify the overall patterns of spatial hearing in a sample population geriatric wearing aid an actual clinical setting and investigate while paying attention aging effects separation on informational masking (IM) target speech common types noise everyday life. Methods: Nine participants (mean age: 68.9 ± 9.6) aids participated. abilities were assessed by measuring their reception threshold (SRT) release from (SRM), using speech-like (SLN) steady-state (SSN) noise-maskers.Results: results identified trend decrease SRT all conditions with increasing azimuth angles. larger target/masker separation, SRM became conditions. Results revealed that hearing-impaired experienced comparable amount IM SLN concerning SSN.Conclusions: Given these findings, did not have same as it general at younger ages. It can be inferred findings extent which maskers compromise listeners may depend age severity loss being imposed them.

Hearing-Aid Outcome Measures in Older Adults
For the past decade or so, my colleagues and I at Indiana University have been conducting research on hearing-aid outcome measures in older adults. This seemed like a fertile area for further research when we embarked on this journey a decade ago. Several observations supported this supposition. First, it was known that about two-thirds of the hearing aids sold in the U.S. were purchased by ind...
متن کاملSpeech Recognition in Real-Life Background Noise by Young and Middle-Aged Adults with Normal Hearing
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES People usually converse in real-life background noise. They experience more difficulty understanding speech in noise than in a quiet environment. The present study investigated how speech recognition in real-life background noise is affected by the type of noise, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and age. SUBJECTS AND METHODS Eighteen young adults and fifteen middle-aged ...

متن کاملEffect of Vowel Auditory Training on the Speech-In-Noise Perception among Older Adults with Normal Hearing
Introduction: Aging reduces the ability to understand speech in noise. Hearing rehabilitation is one of the ways to help older people communicate effectively. This study aimed to investigate the effect of vowel auditory training on the improvement of speech-in-noise (SIN) perception among elderly listeners. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted on 36 elderly ...
متن کاملPsychological effects of hearing aid use in older adults.
Hearing impairment in older adults is a chronic condition with high prevalence that shows negative correlations with communication, social integration, well-being, and cognition. In the present study, a group of elderly individuals with mild to moderate hearing loss who received a hearing aid for the first time in their lives (aural rehabilitation group, n = 70) and two age-matched control grou...
